This programme will equip you to start your career in one of the most sought after industry in this decade; Electrical and Plumbing.

You will follow a carefully planned and supported programme that takes you through practical skills, vital industry knowledge and hands on applications that plumbers or electricians will need to complete works safely and to a high standard.

The T level Foundation programme will focus on all the skills, knowledge and behaviour needed to start your career in building services.

This rounded college learning experience is perfect if you are a 16-18 year old with the drive to transition into the full building services T level at the end of the year.

Course Details

On this course you will:

  • Develop practical skills and underpinning job knowledge to an industry standard; there are mandatory.
  • Focus on how Electricians and Plumbers undertake and complete work.
  • Develop your understanding on principles of Electrical Installation / Electrical Engineering and/or Gas installation.

The course is aimed at 16-18 who wish to progress onto the Level 3 T level. This will involve retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above.

In addition, you will carry out exciting and meaningful work placements to equip you with the world of work.

Entry Guidelines

This is a Study Programme and applicants must be 16 or 17 years of age when applying (on or before 31st August)*. *This is based on Government Guidelines.

Relevant Level 1 qualification or a minimum of 4 GCSEs including English Language Grade 4/C and 3 GCSEs at Grade 3/D or above (including maths).

Applicants should be ready to complete a work placement

Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

Assessment Method

There will be continuous formative assessments throughout the programme which will be set by your tutors to check your progress in both your Vocational, Maths and English. Practical formative assessments will also take the form of tutor-designed assessments which will be set throughout the year. Maths and English at Level 2 or Equivalent Functional skills will need to be achieved to progress on to a T Level.

Additional Information

You will learn the fundamentals in developing skills to undertake a T level this will involve hand skills in both bench and site work, using a range of machines to help with manufacturing and installing on site, along with health and safety in the workplace and understanding how to communicate with others. You will also develop your maths, English and digital skills along with the behaviours required to undertake a T level or gain employment.
