Access to HE Sociology and Criminology is a full level 3 qualification. When you achieve this qualification you will be able to progress onto university. You will study here at Conway Park Campus for 2 days a week.
You will need to know which university (or College) you wish to progress to as applications are made through UCAS in September.
During the course you will study two core modules:
You will choose either Law or Social Work as your 3rd module.
You will need to achieve 60 credits to gain a Level 3 Access to HE Diploma. You will study a total of 20 units all worth 3 credits each. You can gain a Pass, Merit or Distinction for each unit.
Some Higher Education courses ask for a certain number of Merits or Distinctions to gain a place on their courses.
4 GCSEs including English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (4 and above under new GCSE tariff).
You will have an interview where you should demonstrate your understanding of the Higher Education programme you are interested in progressing to.
You will also complete a written task to evidence a good standard of English language.
If you wish to pursue a career in Social Work you will also need current and relevant experience of working/volunteering in a social care setting.
You will be assessed through assignments set such as essays, academic posters, reports, research tasks, timed assessments and presentations.
You will be required to complete a written task and which you will bring with you to interview. Evidence must be presented of qualifications.
Once completed you will be able to progress to University to study subjects related to Sociology, Criminology, Law, Social Studies etc.

If you are aged 19 or over:
Fee : £3200.00
Depending on your personal circumstances, this course could be FREE for you if you are aged 19-23 and you do not already have a level 3 qualification. Please see our Fees and Discounts leaflet for details, or call 0151 551 7777.
If you are aged 19+, you may be able to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan (which is available for this course).
The fee quoted is for the academic year 2017-18. Course fees for 2018-19 will be confirmed in due course.
