Trainee chefs (Commis Chefs) earn from around £13,000 per year, but Head Chefs in top hotels and restaurants may earn around £30,000 per year. Waiting staff can earn around £12,000 to £16,000 per year and bar people can earn from between £11,000 and £17,000 depending on their experience; if you take on additional responsibilities and are managing staff, you may earn around £20,000. Glen Robinson studied a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality and Catering at Wirral Met. He started his career at ‘Home’, a café-bar at The Woodside Ferry Terminal. He is now employed as a full-time chef at Forever Greens eatery on the Wirral.
