Engineering career routes include becoming an engineering maintenance technician or a welder, and you could work across a range of sectors including engineering, transport, aerospace and offshore oil and gas.

Motor Vehicle students progress onto successful careers in car dealerships, franchises, service centres and general garages, working in roles such as Service Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Mechanic, MOT Specialist, Service Manager.

With an engineering qualification, you could progress to careers as diverse as developing manufacturing equipment, security systems or making prosthetic limbs. Career routes include becoming an engineering maintenance technician or a welder, and you could work across a range of sectors including engineering, transport, aerospace and offshore oil and gas. There are also many opportunities for those interested in a career in motor vehicle engineering. Where are they now?

Jonathan Faragher 

Jon thoroughly deserved the award of ‘IMechE Award for Most Improved Student Apprentice in Engineering.’ He managed to gain an Apprenticeship at ‘GS Engineering’ where his potential was spotted by staff, his tutors and his assessor. Jon sailed through his Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship with ease and has now embarked upon a cadetship to become an engineering officer at ‘Maersk Shipping.’ Maersk are so impressed with Jon they are paying for him to attend Warsash Maritime Academy, part of Southampton Solent University, where he is studying engineering to degree level.
