With enrolments well underway it was good to meet so many new students this week, eager to start their new adventure. Seeing so many staff at our full staff briefing on Thursday reminded me of the huge range of talent we have, as we start a new academic year. Saying goodbye to Sue, Miriam and Sheila who retire from Student Services having collectively dedicated 70 years service, also reminded me how fast time flies.
Meanwhile, Alex, one of the new staff to join us, helped me with the ice bucket challenge, following the college’s nomination. It was freezing and as the iced water landed it was a horrible feeling and this challenge was designed to try and create a few seconds of the awful sensation that many people with Motor Neurone Disease experience regularly. A sharp reminder of why we should donate……if you would like to help this charity text ICED55 to 70070 with the amount you would like to donate £X.
