Has a family member or someone close to you survived a cardiac arrest with no coronary heart disease?

Psychology 2 plus 2 PosterSarah Broughton is currently studying BSc Honours Psychology (2 plus 2) at the University of Liverpool. She came to the Wirral Met College Psychology course which includes 2 years full-time at Wirral Met College followed by 2 years full-time at the University of Liverpool. With an extensive background in the business and commercial sectors Sarah reached a point in her life where she wanted to pursue an academic path that she had missed when younger and during her time she had an experience of cardiac problems herself which has shaped her choice of subject.

Sarah is interested in the study of the psychological impact on families and carers of cardiac arrest survivors who have no coronary heart disease. Quite a few studies have been carried out into the psychological impact on the person who has survived the cardiac arrest, but there has been very little research into the impact on families and carers of the cardiac arrest survivor.

Sarah is looking for participants for her third year project. She would like to talk to people who would be willing to discuss their family member’s cardiac arrest as she is interested in how life has changed subsequently. Her study consists of one informal interview lasting approximately 30 - 40 minutes. During the interview, she will discuss the changes to your life since the cardiac arrest and what has helped you adjust. Sarah plans to focus on the families and carers of cardiac arrest survivors who have NOT been diagnosed with any coronary heart disease.

If you are interested in taking part or someone you know has been affected by cardiac arrest and fits the criteria please contact Sarah by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information.
