As the summer holidays draw to a close, those students who gained the grades they were expecting will no doubt be enjoying their last few days of holidays before the new term starts in September.

As the new term gets closer, inevitably, some courses are becoming full, but there are still lots of options for people to consider, from study programmes to apprenticeships and traineeships.
Those aged 16-18 will find a wide range of study programmes on offer, from art, design and creative media to hospitality and catering, engineering and Science. If Science, Digital Technology or Engineering are of interest, students starting this September will be the first to enjoy the specialist new facilities in the college’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Centre which has outstanding equipment including nuclear magnetic resonance equipment in the chemical instrumentation laboratory, robotics; programme logic control (PLC) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) systems in the Engineering workshops and 3D printing and drones in the digital technology studios.
For those keen on a career in the growing logistics sector, our new Logistics and Warehousing Centre has fork lift trucks, fork lift truck simulators, warehousing facilities to provide young people with the skills and qualifications to take the first step in this dynamic sector.
People aged 19 and above are also signing up for a wide range of part-time courses to help them develop their careers. With financial support for those studying up to level 2 and 19+ Advanced Learning Loans for courses at level 3 and above, improving your prospects really is affordable. For those thinking of university who aren’t keen on taking on the high fees being introduced, now is the time to study at Wirral Met, as our higher education fees are much lower than those of the local universities.
