This course is designed to give students the skills and experience of working with small animals. The aim of this 22 week programme is to progress students onto a level 2 qualification or into work.

This Course runs from 15th January to 29th June (2 terms) and is offered as an opportunity for 16-18 year olds to get back into education

If you would like to develop your personal skills working as part of a team within your local community then this is the course for you. The course will include outdoor pursuits, work placement opportunities and a residential leading towards a final presentation of your achievements.

Through building your confidence and motivation, you will be encouraged to think about your future. This includes working in a team to prepare a post-programme development plan and spending time developing interview and CV skills. We want you to develop your confidence ready for taking your next step.

  • During the 12 weeks team members:
  • Uncover hidden talents
  • Assume some responsibility for tasks
  • Develop team-working and communication skills
  • Gain awareness of their local community and how they can contribute to it
  • Complete voluntary work to give something back to your community
  • Undertake a range of fundraising activities to benefit an organisation in your community
  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification
  • Gain employability skills by completing a range of challenges in the community

Developing Awareness training is an essential first step in tackling discrimination and creating equality of opportunity, treatment and choice for deaf people through greater understanding, more positive attitudes towards deafness and more effective communication skills.

If you wish to develop a range of skills needed by employers then this is the course for you. You will work with other students to run an enterprise, developing your communication skills, numeracy and team working skills from which you can progress to a level 1 course. The course runs over three days and times may vary according to personal timetables. Students will take part in work experience with the plan to gain employment further down their career path.

iBS Level 1 Award in British Sign Language is designed to enable students to communicate with deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL). A range of topics are studied that involve simple, everyday language use. It provides an introduction to BSL and is suitable for all students.
