Illustrator
According to Prospects, most illustrators work on a freelance basis, so income figures are hard to estimate and prices vary greatly depending on the client and usage of the artwork. However, well-established illustrators may earn up to £40,000 or more.
Concept Artist
According to Prospects, starting salaries for entry-level or junior concept artist positions are in the region of £17,000 to £20,000, whilst experienced concept artists can earn between £25,000 and £40,000. Senior concept artists can earn around £55,000 and £75,000.
Advertising Art Director
According to Prospects, the range of typical starting salaries for junior art directors is around £25,000 to £27,000, whilst middleweight art director salaries vary between £28,000 and £45,000 depending on experience and success. However, senior directors can earn anything between £55,000 and £120,000
Commercial Art Gallery Manager
According to Prospects, Gallery Managers can earn in the region of £25,000 to £40,000, whereas salaries for gallery directors can be in excess of £60,000. Galleries may pay commission/bonuses for sales of artwork in addition to your salary, which can increase your earnings.
