Experts and guest speakers from a variety of industries visited our campuses to talk to students about their career options, experiences, and offering a range of practical workshops.
The day started at Twelve Quays with a visit from Wirral University Teaching Hospital who conducted practical sessions with our Health and Social Care, and our Childcare students. This was then followed by Claire House guest speaker, who spoke about support measures for seriously and terminally ill children.
Acclaimed animator Salma Hafez visited our BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation students, to talk about how to make a career in the industry, creatives co-operatives, and making the move from study to business. Salma showcased her film My Name Is Younes, which appeared at the Manchester Animation Festival 2022.
Sound City and Rockpoint Leisure gave a talk about the music industry and local opportunities to music students, while Fourth Monkey provided drama workshops, and winners of the student competition for the Four Bridges Design were announced.
Students at Wirral Waters construction campus engaged in interactive sessions with Kimpton Energy Solutions, Kier Construction, Moreton Alarms and Comelit Fire Systems. While over at Conway Park Travel and Tourism students took part in a talk delivered by international travel company TUI, who spoke about career opportunities in the industry.
Hair and Beauty students discovered what it takes to work in TV and film, thanks to Helen Johns, Senior Makeup Artiste at Lime Productions, who regularly applies her skills on the set of Hollyoaks. Helen shared career advice ranging from how to get started in the industry, tips for building a CV, and the skills used when working in TV and film.
A-Z Safari brought in a selection of exotic animals including meercats and parrots to Prep for Life to explain about career pathways in this area.
