This course is suitable if you wish to gain a vocational qualification in Indian Head Massage. You will study the practical skills of head massage and the relevant theory.

Course details

During the course you will spend your evening in the salon working on one another and models. Assessments continue throughout the course both in practical and theory sessions and you will be required to complete a number of case studies. During your course there will be opportunities for attending national shows and exhibitions. You will need to provide your own equipment, overalls and flat shoes. Approximate cost £30.

Entry guidelines
    Relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass or above or minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4/C and above. A satisfactory interview.
  • You need the skills for fine work e.g. small, precise movements within the treatment and it may be necessary to stand for long periods e.g. giving a treatment.

Additional Information
  • You need to have a genuine interest in massage.
  • An ability to communicate one to one e.g. tutor or client and in a group as part of group discussions.
  • Reading & writing. You need to produce written assignments and sit written exams.li>
  • Whilst high levels of numeracy are not required, you may need to work with treatment materials and may handle money.

  • Are you aged 16-18?
    Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:

    • A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
    • Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
    • English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A* - C in English and maths (grade 4 or above).
    • Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips

    Where can I progress to?

    This qualification will be an extremely useful addition if you are a practising therapist, especially if you offer Aromatherapy and/or Reflexology. It is also useful and desirable for a great many hairdressers. This course provides and excellent starting point to progress onto the Diploma in Complementary Therapies.
