The Diploma in Public Service Interpreting is the highest and most prestigious qualification in interpreting and is awarded by the Institute of Linguists. This course will prepare you for the examinations in London.
You will study for the 5 components of the qualifiaction:
- Spoken English to other language
- Spoken other language to English
- Written English to other language
- Written other language to English
- Simultaneous translation
You study a range of situations and role-plays and produce glossaries for future employment.
Applicants must be:
- Over 20 years of age
- Be educated to A level standard (or an equivalent)
- Demonstrate sufficient levels of written and spoken English minimum L2 English
- Demonstrate experience of or previous study of interpreting
Assessment will be a series of mock exams and role-play conducted by the tutor. The final exams will be in mid-June with the Institute of Linguists in London or Manchester.
When the course runs:
Starting 7th January 2016 and lasting 22 weeks until 16th June 2016. It is delivered on Thursday evenings 5.30-8.30 at Conway Park Campus.
The DPSI is the highest qulifiaction for free-lance interpreters who typically enrol with a range of interpreting agencies. With the DPSI the interpreter can attract the highest paid jobs in the health sector. The qualification is also recognised overseas.
