This is a FREE course. You will be in a small, friendly group. You will take part in various individual, paired and whole group activities that will help increase your confidence and develop your maths skills. You will have your own plan of work which you will negotiate with your tutor.

Course details

The course will cover; mental calculations and estimating the cost of items, use of fractions, decimals, percentages and the metric system, finding and using information in lists, tables, and charts, solving problems using 2-D shapes and finding the mean and the range for sets of data.

Entry guidelines

To join this course you need to complete an assessment to determine the correct starting level for you.

If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

Additional Information

You will work towards a City & Guilds Functional Skills qualification or a College Certificate
You also need to be able to:

  • arrive on time
  • attend every week
  • work with others
  • complete homework and bring it to the next session
Where can I progress to?

You may be able to progress to a Move On Plus Maths class, or a range of academic or vocational courses that require mathematical skills.
