This is a level 3 course.

Course outline

The Advanced Diploma in Accounting is the second stage of the full AAT qualification. It is a professional course which will give you the skills to excel at a wide range of accounting and finance jobs.

Course details

On the Advanced Diploma you are introduced to more advanced bookkeeping and final accounts preparation. You will also learn:

  • Costing aspects of management accounting Professional ethics for accountants
  • How to prepare VAT returns
  • How to use financial spreadsheets

The qualification is approximately equivalent to an A level.

Entry guidelines

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or an AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting

If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

Additional Information

This course can be studied either two evenings per week or one day per week. Daytime class - Monday 9.00 - 5.00pm Evening class - Tue/Wed 6 - 9.00pm. Please note, it is expected that a number of hours for self-study will also be required

A requirement of this course is membership with the AAT (The Association of Accounting Technicians)

  • Admin Fee £41 (one off payment)
  • Membership Fee £90 - to be paid yearly

Please be aware that criminal offences, bankruptcy and IVAs will affect your application for membership with the AAT. See course leader for further details

Text books for this course are to be purchased they are not included in the course fees

Initial unit exams are included in the course fees. Exam resits are an extra cost
