How long does the course last?

30 weeks, part-time

Level

This is a level 1 course.

Course outline

You will be encouraged to design their own jewellery and will work with a range of materials including silver, gold, copper, titanium, porcelain, silver clay and polymer clay. Beginners are welcome to apply as well as those with previous jewellery making experience.

Course details

This is a mixed ability course teaching students a range of jewellery skills including:

  • Piercing
  • Shaping
  • Forming
  • Soldering
  • Stone setting
  • Forging
  • Working with mixed media
  • Patination
  • Etching

You can work in silver or copper and when selecting stones you can choose from a wide range of prices.

Entry guidelines

There are no formal entry criteria

You should have a keen interest in jewellery.

The ability to develop ideas for projects.

Good eye/hand co-ordination, communication and numeracy skills would be useful.
