If you're considering learning a new skill, there is no better time to start than January. At Wirral Met we have full-time and part-time courses that can improve your prospects whether this be to gain the skills to progress into university and higher paid employment, or to develop new skills to help you gain a promotion at work.
Our January to June 2018 courses include health and safety, hospitality and catering, leadership and many more options to help you improve your skills. You can find the courses starting in January 2018 here: wmc.ac.uk/prospectus.
We also have apprenticeship and traineeship vacancies available online. Traineeships are designed to help young people gain the skills and experience for work and work placements can be at least 6 weeks and no more than 5 months. Apprenticeships allow you to gain qualifications, skills and experience whilst you work and you will get paid from the day you start your apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are available from level 2 (which equates to 5 good GCSEs) to Degree level and offer an alternative option to going to university.
Gemma Powell studied an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Hospitality and Catering. She started in a school kitchen as an apprentice in March 2015 and was offered a permanent position in July 2016. Gemma was then trained in all of the job roles in the kitchen and worked so well with her team that she has now taken over the running of one site.
On 11th January, we have an open evening and all four campuses will be open, staff will be available to talk about courses and career options. You can register your interest here.
We also have Traineeship information days, Thursday 4th January & Thursday 9th January 2018, 2.00-4.30pm at Conway Park Campus. Find out more.
