Work is well underway on our £8 million Wirral Met College Campus in Wirral Waters.
This is the first building on Peel Group’s Wirral Waters development that will specialise in enterprise and construction and transform 500 acres of Birkenhead Dockland.
Whilst constructing the college, Morgan Sindall will provide learning opportunities to existing Wirral Met construction students, giving them an insight into all aspects of a major construction project.
The Morgan Sindall team will also assist the college on site by offering health and safety tuition, allowing the students to gain first-hand experience on a live project
The project is due for completion in September 2015 and will be the first key landmark on Wirral Waters – a 30-year project by Peel Group to transform the Birkenhead dockland, and one half of the Mersey Waters Enterprise Zone.
The steelwork is currently on programme to be finished mid March. The next stages of construction will be the concrete slab to form the first floor. Morgan Sindall will then start the external masonry as well as the external drainage.

Work has commenced to remediate and prepare the site for Wirral Met College’s new campus at Wirral Waters in Birkenhead. Principal Sue Higginson met Richard Mawdsley, Project Director at Peel, to see the first stage of the site works commence. Following completion of initial ground works to prepare and clean the site, the new build will commence and local residents will soon be able to see the new building take shape.

This exciting new project is due for completion in September 2015 and will provide the first key landmark on Wirral Waters, one half of the Mersey Waters Enterprise Zone. The new campus, dedicated to delivering training and education for Construction and the Built Environment, and providing a Skills and Enterprise Centre for local employers, will play a key part in the regeneration of the wider economy.

Construction company Vinci has been appointed on the remediation project for the site. An announcement for the main College contractor will be announced shortly.
