This qualification is designed for learners who want an introduction to business and enterprise that includes a vocational and hands-on element. It has been developed to enthuse and inspire learners about a career in business and enterprise. The qualification will appeal to learners who wish to either set up their own business, move into employment or progress to further study.
The study of business and enterprise involves understanding the functions of business and data analysis, the importance of other influences in the external environment and the characteristics of being an entrepreneur and gives a real insight in to running your own business.
It is distinct from business studies as it encourages the learner to use the concepts and theories to further their enterprise skills and complete a business plan for an original idea.
Throughout the delivery of this qualification, the following core areas and transferable skills should be evident:
- team working — the qualification gives learners the opportunity to work with others either on small tasks or during the final project task
- communication skills
- presentation skills — learners will learn to present their work to those around them in a suitable way and will also learn the most appropriate way of communicating as an entrepreneur or business person
- use of initiative — learners will learn what initiative is and why it is important for an entrepreneur or business person
- independent working — learners will understand how to work independently on specific tasks

To be awarded the NCFE Level 1 Technical Award in Business and Enterprise, learners are required to successfully complete 6 mandatory units. Learners must also achieve a minimum of a Pass in the external assessment.
Relevant Entry Level qualification or 3 GCSEs at Grade 2/E or above.
Satisfactory interview, assessment, school, report and/or satisfactory reference.
Varied assessment methods with 1 externally assessed task.
- Learners who achieve this qualification could progress onto other Level 2 qualifications, such as:
- other Level 2 qualifications in business-related subjects
- Business Studies
- Level 2 Technical Certificates.
It may also be useful to those studying qualifications in the following sectors:
- Travel and Tourism
- Creative Studies
- Business Administration.
When does this course run?
Starts 26th Feb 2018 - Ends 14th May 2018
If you are aged 16-18:
This study programme will be FREE for most students who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, or students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
If you are aged 19 or over:
