This apprenticeship is suitable for those who are in an administration, business support or receptionist role.
Some of the duties in these roles may include making and receiving telephone calls, helping with the organisation of meetings and events, dealing with travel requests, handling mail, record keeping, using electronic message systems and office equipment, taking notes, arranging travel and meetings, welcoming visitors, handling mail and using electronic message systems and office equipment.
The Apprenticeship framework includes the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
- Level 1 Functional Skill English
- Level 1 Functional Skill maths
- Level 1 Functional Skill ICT
The mandatory units on the Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration are:
- Communication in a business environment
- Manage personal performance and development
- Develop working relationships with colleagues
- Principles of providing administrative services
- Principles of business document production and information management
- Understand employer organisations
Apprentices must be in paid employment of at least 30 hours per week.
Apprenticeships where the apprentice is working and studying for less than thirty hours per week are by exception only. In any circumstances the apprentice must not work for less than sixteen hours per week.
There are no specific entry requirements for this apprenticeship; however a good standard of English and maths would be advantageous.

Apprenticeships are designed for individuals who are in paid employment within the sector and would like to achieve qualifications which recognise the skills they gain in the workplace.
An Intermediate Level Apprenticeship will take a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months.
If you have already found a job you may be able to convert it into an Apprenticeship.
Speak to your employer and discuss the opportunity of you becoming an Apprentice. There is plenty of help and support for you and your employer and they may be eligible for a grant.

With additional training, intermediate apprentices may be able to progress in their careers to roles including administration executive, administration team leader, office supervisor, personal assistant, secretary or a wide range of other business administration roles.
