Many students studying at the college have already progressed onto university, apprenticeships and a wide range of careers in the STEM sector, and this number is set to grow significantly with the opening of this dedicated STEM Centre.

Sue Higginson, Principal of Wirral Met, said, “Education and skills are crucial to every thriving economy. I am delighted that Wirral Met will be playing a central part in helping local people unlock their potential and gain the skills needed to be part of our vibrant, Liverpool City Region. It is not just by chance that our new campus is in an Enterprise Zone, our strategic decision to be right in the heart of Wirral Waters shows the significant role that Wirral Met will play in attracting and supporting business to invest in the area and in our local people, who have so much to offer.  Our job is to help those businesses recruit the right staff and make sure it is the people in Liverpool City Region that are equipped with the right skills to get the many thousands of jobs that will become available as Wirral Waters unfolds.“

Our new multi-million pound Wirral Waters Campus, Tower Road, Birkenhead CH41 1AA, opened in September 2015.

The Wirral Waters Campus, dedicated to delivering training and education for Construction and the Built Environment, and providing a Skills and Enterprise Centre for local employers, will play a key part in the regeneration of the wider economy.  This is the first key landmark on Peel Group’s Wirral Waters development, one half of the Mersey Waters Enterprise Zone.   Take a look at the time lapse video.

Morgan Sindall and Wirral Met College involved students at every stage of the new Wirral Waters Campus development, and provided learning opportunities to existing Wirral Met construction students, giving them an insight into all aspects of a major construction project and first-hand experience on a live project.
