Wirral Met College is a leading Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre for the North West of England. We are in the process of building a brand new STEM Centre at our Twelve Quays Campus, which will open in April 2016. Our new STEM Centre opened in June 2016 with a wide range of specialist facilities including - a Chemical Instrumentation lab with Nuclear Magnetic Resonance equipment; Molecular Biology and Micro Biology Labs; a Robotics and Mechatronics Arena; a Physics and Electronics Lab; a Life Sciences Lab. We work with many employers and in 2014 we were named as Provider of the Year in a national competition awarded by the Sector Skills Council for Science, Cogent.

Many students progress onto jobs and/or apprenticeships once they have completed their full-time study programmes. Level 3 students often progress onto Higher Education programmes such as the Higher National Certificate (HNC), or Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Applied Chemistry, or the Foundation Degree in Chemistry or Forensic Science, which are offered at Wirral Met College working in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

Starting salaries for Forensic Scientists are £20,000 per year and experienced scientists may earn between £25,000 and £35,000 per year. (Source)
Where are they now?
Fozia is currently doing an Advanced level Apprenticeship in Laboratory Technicians and was awarded with the UK Life Sciences Advanced Apprentice Award 2014.
